Curriculum Outline
The Typhoon Roadracing Academy takes motorcycle roadracing and rider education to a new level. At TRA the focus is to explain how to ride a motorcycle with control and skill. Knowledge of the proper usage of controls, body position, focus, brake and throttle application will give the rider confidence and the set necessary to be not only a safe and responsible rider but also the ability to do it turning laps faster than ever before. Motorcycle roadracing is an exciting sport that is driven from adrenaline and speed. Without the proper skill set and riding tools in place roadracing can be very dangerous
At TRA, riders of all abilities are welcome.
The Typhoon Roadracing Academy will consist of:
- A full day of on-track lessons
- Track and classroom lectures
- Video sessions
Track drills exclusive to TRA:
- Multiple on track drills to keep the rider focused on one task without being distracted by the other difficulties during the lap
- Classroom lectures to review video
- Private instruction numerous times a lap during drills
- Track lectures for better visualization
- Riding all day with tons of instruction
At TRA, what you will learn:
- Braking techniques,
- Lines around all types of corners
- Proper throttle application
- Body position
- And the effect that these have on the motorcycles attitude
The day will consist of multiple on track drills to keep the rider focused on one task without being distracted by the other difficulties during the lap. We will spend lots of time on the track learning skills and these skill-sets will be rehearsed until the student can complete it correctly. Classroom time will be allocated to review video. Lectures will be executed on the track for better visualization.
The school is available for all riding abilities.
Because of the structure of the drills, each rider is individually instructed one by one. Therefore a student will be getting private instruction multiple times a lap during drills.
The student will leave with a much broader skill set that will make you a much safer rider and in time will transfer into being a faster rider who is - in control.
Rider Requirements
- Your motorcycle
- Full-face helmet with Snell 2005 rating or better (Flip-face/modular helmets are not permitted)
- One or two-piece leathers (two piece leathers must have a full circumference zipper)
- Heavy Duty Cordura Nylon-type riding suits are acceptable, with reinforced and padded shoulders, elbows, hips and knee areas (Aero stitch or similar)
- Leather gloves, gauntlet style with adjustable wrist closure
- Riding boots, racing or touring style with full ankle coverage
