FAQ
A lot of students call and have similar questions. This FAQ page is here to help you quickly answer those questions without having to take the time to make a call. Here is a list of frequently asked question.
What is TRA all about?
TRA is about teaching the rider complete motorcycle control including but not limited to brake control (front and rear), body position, focus, throttle application, and proper line choices.
What is the advantage of TRA over Ty Howard private lessons?
Both classes are beneficial and full of instruction. Private lessons are on ECR member days and so other riders will be on the track. Making it impossible to stop on track to do drills and watch instructor demonstrations. TRA students are the only riders on track for academy days.
What rider ability does TRA teach?
TRA teaches all levels of riders. Because of the unique TRA lesson plan every rider gets constant one on one attention all day long. A wide range of rider ability levels can be tailored to during the academy. TRA is not an open lapping trackday so being passed by fast students or having to negotiate slower riders is not an issue.
Rider equipment?
A motorcycle with street tires is required. We suggest bringing a 125 or larger street bike with good racing or street tires. A motard is OK to ride also. Full of two piece leathers, street gloves, over the ankle leather boots and full face helmet (Snell, British, or ECE 2205 approved helmet recommended). A back protector is also recommended.
Pre registration:
There will be no registering at the track. The TRA schedule is full and registration at the track is time consuming. Students must be pre registered a week before the academy date. A $100 deposit is required to reserve a date with payment in full due a week before the event. If the student decides to change dates or cancel, a notice most be received a week before the event to receive full credit or refund.
Supplies needed:
Gas stations are 12 miles away so please bring drinks, snack and gasoline. ECR sells drinks and gasoline but its better to show up prepared and ready to learn. ECR can make lunch for you but its a limited menu usually only containing hamburgers. Its not a bad idea to bring a snack lunch. A TRA staff member will call or email students if we plan to have lunch catored.
Age requirements:
Minors are required to have legal guardian with them. There is not a minimum age requirement but they are required to ride at least a 125GP bike. No mini bikes.
